I've been following Brooklyn-based Samantha Pleet's exploits for over two years now, and it has been quite a journey tracking her growth as a designer in that short bit of time.. how great she was, how exceptional she is now - and yet how true to her own unique brand she has stayed in that stretch. When I caught these images on Hannah's blog last night, I knew I had to stick with my seasonal tradition and repost them here.

Each collection seems a progressive move forward in terms of technique and style, and fall/winter 2013 stays true to that trend. Rich caramels, brocades with frayed fringe, and shiny silks that seem to pop out of their photographs. Pleet's deft use of hard, geometric lines and patterns produces feminine shapes. But the best is the watercolor silk print, at first glance modern and abstract but then almost painterly, a tangible symbol of Pleet's ability to merge old world with new in her work.
