art tissue silk top diy
In the final chaotic weeks of packing, I managed to fit in two sewing and dyeing projects back-to-back - the shibori halter dress in the previous post and, as the latest DIY in my sewing series for Drifter and the Gypsy, this silk kimono top dyed with art tissue and vinegar. Check out the full tutorial here.
The manic nature of the dyeing process came out in a mix of geometric shapes and jagged starbursts - maybe what an aerial shot of colorful mountains would look like through a veil of clouds? Or an unsupervised art class taught by a bunch of kindergarteners. Whatever your take, I love the final outcome. Trying this project out for yourself? Highly recommended.
